ChrysQ Winter Workshop : Personal
JANUARY 4, 2010 • FILED UNDER: PERSONAL
I had the pleasure last week to take part in the very first ChrysQ Winter Workshop Extravaganza! Okay, well I actually I added the last word in, but only to try and give you an idea of its awesomeness. BenQ and ChrysQ are great wedding photographers in Dallas area and to top it off ChrysQ has her own side business creating amazing album slipcovers. All you photographers out there, if you sell albums to your clients this is a great way to take those albums to the next level and really “wow” your clients. These slipcovers are very unique and can really give your clients something one of a kind that they will be happy to share with their friends and family.
Ben and Chrys opened up their doors this year and invited photographers along to watch them shoot their winter slipcover catalog. We all had the opportunity to watch Ben set up a winter scene, pose, and ask any questions we wanted about lighting. It was so great to have this opportunity to see how things are done and ask why and how things are done. I first met Ben and Chrys about 3 months ago and one of the first things that made a huge impression on me was how kind, open, and honest they were with me about everything. It was no different for this workshop, Ben was an open book with anything concerning photography. I know there are some workshops and photographers who may teach something but leave big details out or are just not willing to really share EVERYTHING, but Ben made it clear that it was his goal and desire to share all the knowledge he had on the subject of lighting. If you are a photographer looking to grow your knowledge on the topic of lighting a highly suggest keeping up with Ben and his blog to get details on the future workshops. He will also be releasing a DVD out to the public from this last winter workshop that will detail lighting and basic post processing.
Here are some of the images I was able to capture during the workshop. I suggest going over to the ChrysQ site to see the full deluxe collection of slipcovers that were just released. I will share some behind the scenes shots later this week along with another tutorial on how I edited these images. **Note to photographers** Just in case the thought pops into your head, “why did this guy crop out feet and hands on some shots?”, I would like to think I normally would not do this, but in this case I shared this tiny space with 20 other photographers and you would literally be seeing them in the shot had I not cropped out some limbs.
For any new blog readers, I only show about 5 images per post but there are always more images when you click the “see more” link at the bottom of each post.

Awesome stuff Jared! Wish I could’ve gone to the Q’s workshop, but I was still in Cali. Loving all the images coming from the shoot!
